Do you know what happens?

Do you know what happens,
Every time you push me away?
When you don’t answer?
When you say you’re busy?
When you’re too busy for me,
My hole deepens.

I fear I shall never see the sun
Since I am so far down
It is so deep and dark
And then you reply,
I can see the sun sparkling,
It’s almost within reach,
I just have to break through the last bit of brush,
A few more roots,
A small patch of dirt

And then you disappear,
And I lose my will to get out.
My will to be anywhere but in the dark,
Anywhere but in the hole of my own making.
